Through and after graduate school, Owen has worked with adolescents and adults, particularly with substance abuse issues. Owen has over two years experience working both as a counselor and a substance use treatment coordinator post graduation. The majority of his experience is working with adolescents in the area of conduct disorder, oppositional defiance, anxiety, depression, and substance use. Owen has made his mark in multiple settings using motivational interviewing and positive techniques to develop gainful outcomes for his clients through the course of his practice. Owen believes in the use of positive psychology and solutions-focused approaches to generally positive change within the lives of those in need. He believes that treatment can be not only a healing experience, but one that is enjoyed and opens doors to more satisfying approaches to living.

Additionally, he has been working to develop and design new approaches to addictive behaviors to lead to positive outcomes. Additionally, Owen believes in taking a total health approach to wellness. Positive coping, diet, self-care activities, hobbies, social activities, and many other facets of living can all be evaluated to identify more functional ways of living. Developing goals at the initial session, Owen works to empower his clients to develop positive and gainful changes they can see in their activities of daily living. Owen has also developed significant experience in helping and supporting families to develop positive outcomes through enhanced communication and boundaries clarification. Creating more positive and supportive family environments is a constant pursuit in the work he develops.
