Casey Sarafinas, LPC
Everyone has a story to tell and I have a genuine desire to listen and help guide you through your narrative towards a well-balanced, happier life. Through my own journey with anxiety and depression stemming from childhood trauma, I have learned how to navigate difficult emotions in healthier ways. I work with older teens, adults, couples, and families and believe in empowering others to help themselves using a strengths-based approach.
I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, stress management, emotional dysregulation, women’s issues, self-esteem, body image, relationship concerns, parenting, career support, and phase of life issues. Having experienced first-hand the benefits of therapy, I am committed to working with you to regain hope, achieve personal growth, and live a satisfying life that you deserve.
From personal experience, I understand the difficult emotions and challenges that arise from divorce and single-parenting, and partner with couples to identify solutions to improve their ability to communicate, connect, and co-parent in healthier, more effective ways. Common areas addressed in couples counseling include pre-marital counseling, co-parenting, sex and intimacy, infidelity, and separation or divorce.
With fifteen years of experience as a licensed therapist, my goal is to create a sense of safety within the therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard and understood without judgment. I believe it is important to meet clients where they are and help them stretch just outside their comfort zone towards growth. I use an integrative therapeutic framework incorporating strategies and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. With an emphasis on the power of mindfulness, I also use creativity and humor in my practice.
As the Clinical Director of The Wellness Connection LLC, I lead collaborative efforts among our team of professionals with a diversity of expertise and approaches to improve the overall care of our clients. A Virginia Board-Approved Supervisor, I also provide supervision for Interns and Residents in Counseling.
