Jennifer is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at our Stone Ridge location. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Psychology from the University of Connecticut, and her Master of Art in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Saint Joseph in Connecticut. She gained her practicum experience with Haddam-Killingworth Youth and Family Services providing services to children, adolescents and adults in individual, couples and family therapy. She is currently working on her certification in Perinatal Mental Health.
Jennifer enjoys working with clients of all ages and has experience with various populations in different environments. During her time as both an undergraduate and graduate student, Jennifer worked in the early childhood education field as a preschool teacher, and had the opportunity to be the Early Childhood Coordinator for the youth service bureau where she had completed her graduate practicum. She spent time in community mental health working with those suffering from severe and persistent mental illness; assisted service members with their transition from military to civilian life; provided counseling services as a Military and Family Life Counselor; ran a school based mentorship program involving military cadets; and has also provided teletherapy services.
Jennifer is comfortable working with children, adolescents and adults in individual, couples or family therapy. In addition to helping her clients with anxiety, depression, parenting or marriage/relational issues, she is really passionate about a few populations/topics in particular. The first includes perinatal mental health. Whether it is an expectant couple/mom, a new mom, or a mom having her 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc, Jennifer understands the importance of tackling all that comes with this time in your life both physically and emotionally. The second interest of hers surrounds performance coaching for athletes and dancers of all ages, and the emotional/mental side of performance and competition. Lastly, living the military lifestyle, Jennifer is all too familiar with the ups and downs that come with it and wants to be able to support those in her fellow military community.
Her approach to therapy is solution focused and strengths based. The mind-body connection is also important to her in helping her clients achieve their overall wellness.
Jennifer is married and has 2 children and 2 dogs. She is originally from Connecticut and has had the opportunity to live in Washington, Massachusetts, and New York but is excited to be able to settle in Virginia. She enjoys baking, physical fitness, dance, and spending time with her family.
