Kimberly Van Etten, Resident & Counseling
Kimberly is currently a Resident in Counseling with The Wellness Connection in Stone Ridge and has MA In Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Kimberly, her husband, and 13 year old daughter recently relocated from Stone Ridge, VA to Western Loudoun, Virginia where they now have bears, deer and wild turkeys as neighbors! They are spending time outdoors and loving the sunsets from their mountain home in the quiet of the country. Kimberly earned her her BS in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University. Kimberly taught children ages 4-12 for several years. She discovered the occupation of Child Life and interned with Children’s Healthcare Of Atlanta as a Child Life Specialist in 2007, earning her Certification as a CCLS. She worked in this capacity in hospitals in Macon, Atlanta, D.C., and Northern Virginia. Most recently, she was part of the Child Life team at ILH.
Kimberly realized that her role as a helper would be further impactful as a mental health therapist serving clients of all ages who are coping with trauma, PTSD, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and every day stressors outside of the hospital environment. She completed her internship in Middleburg, VA and received her MA in clinical mental health counseling from Regent University in Virginia Beach. Kimberly feels strongly that therapy is a personal journey and uses a holistic approach including: Trauma Focused Therapy (Certified Clinical Trauma Practitioner), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR- level 2 trained), CBT, CPT, IFS, mindfulness, strength based approaches, music, play and art interventions in addition to traditional talk therapy in her practice. She is a strong advocate for animals in therapy and is always up for a walk and talk session around the neighborhood with your family pet!
